Ouch! Relieve Back Pain With Some Alternative Approaches

If you struggle with back pain, relief could be in sight. Try some alternative ways to alleviate your discomfort while also reducing inflammation which could prevent further damage or strain. If you experience chronic pain, see your physician for treatment options.

Some ways to relieve back pain include:

Yoga. Yoga and Pilates are low-impact exercises that can gently increase your range of motion and reduce back ache pain. These routines will improve your flexibility and restore blood flow, which can have a significant impact on your discomfort. Try a Pilates reformer machine at the gym to optimize the benefits of each pose and to improve your posture, which can also reduce back pain.

Acupuncture. Acupuncture is reported as being effective for restoring circulation to injured areas, which may speed the healing process. This involves a certified acupuncturist inserting needles under the top layers of dermis, or skin, to improve energy and restore blood flow to your injured back.

Hot-stone massage. Massage is another way to help reduce the discomfort of a back injury or muscle strain. Hot-stone massage is particularly helpful for lower-back pain, and can reduce the inflammation that could be causing you to suffer. Visit licensed massage therapists for other techniques and options that can make your back feel better and improve your range of motion.

Chiropractic care. Chiropractic adjustments can resolve many causes of back pain with regular adjustments and treatment. Your chiropractor will manipulate the spine, which can provide immediate relief and increase your range of motion.

Salt water. When you take a warm bath, add a hefty amount of Epsom salt to the water. This can reduce inflammation which can relax strained muscles and reduce your back pain. If you suffer a sprain or fracture, cool water may be more beneficial so ask your doctor first.

Aromatherapy. When used with other treatments, aromatherapy can help reduce pain and make you feel better fast. There are some scents that can have a significant impact on overall wellness, reducing stress which may be contributing to your back discomfort:

  • Peppermint.
  • Eucalyptus.
  • Orange.
  • Lavender.

Relieve discomfort from back pain with some of these alternative suggestions. While these solutions should not be used instead of prescribed medication or doctor's recommendations, these can augment your current regimen to alleviate your pain quickly.
