Assisted Living: Dealing With Everyone's Emotions

How a Retirement Living Community Can Take Care of All Your Needs

by Julia Gregory

You don't have to be sick or disabled to enjoy living in a retirement community. With a retirement community, you are living near other individuals who are the same age as you, and you'll have access to a wide variety of resources to make life easier. It is a little like going back to college, except with more experience and knowledge. A retirement living community can provide you with lots of different important services.

#1 Bills Are Bundled

When you live in a retirement community, you don't have to balance so many bills. Instead of having to pay a water bill, electric bill, gas bill, rent, insurance, etc, all your housing bills will be simplified. You will have one bill that will cover your housing and any extras that you use. This will make managing your bills much simpler; the only other bills you will have will be your healthcare and anything extra that you want to pay for. It can be a mental relief to not have to balance so many bills.

#2 Cleaning is Provided

When you move into a retirement community, you will still need to clean up after yourself on a day-to-day basis. However, you will no longer have to deep-clean your home. Someone else will take care of dusting and vacuuming, cleaning your kitchen, and cleaning your bathroom. You can say goodbye to those chores that not only take up time but are physically demanding as well.

#3 Get a Break From Cooking

Although you will have your own kitchen, you don't have to do all your own cooking. In many retirement communities, you can sign up for a meal plan. You can have the facility make all your meals, or you can only eat your lunch, dinner, or a certain number of meals per week.

#4 Get a Ride

Next, when you move into a retirement community, your transportation needs are taken care of. Through transportation services, you can go to the store, meet up with friends, and continue your active social life. You don't have to pay a ride-sharing app to get around or keep paying for a vehicle. Paying for a vehicle is expensive, and driving can be physically demanding and exhausting as you get older.

Moving into a retirement community allows you to simplify your life. Your bills will be grouped together and your weekly house cleaning will be taken care of. You can get assistance with cooking and driving if you need or want that type of assistance. You can also enjoy social activities and events planned by the community. You still get to be you and be independent in a senior living community. Seek out retirement living home services in your area to learn more.

About Me

Assisted Living: Dealing With Everyone's Emotions

The decision to move one of my parents into assisted living was one of the most difficult I have ever made. I had extreme feelings of guilt that led to me being at the facility with my parent practically around the clock. It took a few months before I realized that I could not let my own life fall apart from the guilt I was feeling. I also learned that my parent was fine without me constantly hovering around. Since that time, I have had several friends express similar feelings of guilt. I started this blog to help others in the same situation understand not only their feelings about assisted living, but those of their parents.
