Assisted Living: Dealing With Everyone's Emotions

Why You Should Treat Medical Conditions Involving Your Veins Seriously

by Julia Gregory

Your veins are often forgotten about when it comes to your overall health. Most of the time they just do their job, working in the background with no input needed from you, and it is only really when a health problem begins to affect them that you will take any notice. Because of this more relaxed attitude towards veins, it can be hard to then switch gears and take the medical conditions affecting your veins, seriously but that is exactly what you need to do. Vein treatment is vital for a full recovery of whatever disease or injury you might have, otherwise, you could suffer very painful and ongoing problems.

Some Veins Do Not Heal Once Broken

Veins are very resilient considering how frequently they are used and the actual size of them, but that does not mean they are indestructible. Sometimes veins that collapse or are too broken down by clots or trauma will not repair themselves and leave you with a blood supply issue. While there are several routes you can take to alleviate this problem, the best vein treatment is always prevention rather than a fix after the injury has occurred. Vein treatment programs can help reduce pressure, clots, and other conditions that affect the integrity of your veins like diabetes.

You Can Lose Limbs

In extreme circumstances, when blood flow has deteriorated enough, it is possible and does happen that you will need to have a limb amputated. While this is more common for those with diabetes, it can happen to anyone with a big enough vein problem. Without proper circulation, the extremities, particularly your feet, simply begin to shut down and die. This can lead to poisoning of the blood due to necrotic tissue causing an infection, and that in turn can lead to a much more serious illness and potential death if not treated quickly. You do not want to lose a limb when you could have prevented it by acting sooner.

It Will Affect Your Energy Levels

Whenever the body does not pump enough blood or fresh enough blood, the first and most immediate effect is severe fatigue. If your veins are not working as they should be, in whatever area of the body, then you might begin to feel more and more tired as the days go on. What could have been a small, confined issue turns into something that affects every aspect of your daily life if you are not careful.

About Me

Assisted Living: Dealing With Everyone's Emotions

The decision to move one of my parents into assisted living was one of the most difficult I have ever made. I had extreme feelings of guilt that led to me being at the facility with my parent practically around the clock. It took a few months before I realized that I could not let my own life fall apart from the guilt I was feeling. I also learned that my parent was fine without me constantly hovering around. Since that time, I have had several friends express similar feelings of guilt. I started this blog to help others in the same situation understand not only their feelings about assisted living, but those of their parents.
