Assisted Living: Dealing With Everyone's Emotions

How Medical Spas Are Taking Over the Industry

by Julia Gregory

Millions of American's enjoy the services provided by spas every week, with a lot of variety amongst the many different companies out there. Some spas might focus on one particular type of treatment over others, but none of them have offered what medical spas are doing now. Medical spas combine all the great and relaxing procedures you expect at a spa, from facials to hear removal, along with extra, more controlled treatments that require professional medical knowledge. Here are three medical spa services that you could not find at a regular spa that illustrate why so many people are making the switch.

1. Laser

Laser hair removal is increasingly popular among patients because it has long-lasting effects, it's a minimally invasive process, and the procedure isn't long. Most of the time you would have to go to a special laser operator or dermatologist, but at a medical spa, you can get this done and then have a massage or some other treatment to relax so you feel better the next day. Including laser removal in your itinerary at your spa means that not only is the day itself a relaxing one that helps recuperate your strength but that its positive effects will be felt for many days and weeks to come.

2. Botox

Botox injections are used by people of all ages, with younger adults using them to prolong their youthful look and older American's using them to replicate what they once had. While it may not seem like that much of a complex procedure, since you are handling needles and a controlled substance, botox does require medical training and therefore most spas cannot offer this. However, a medical spa often advertises botox as one of its top services, and many of them have multiple practitioners within the spa itself so you will never have to wait that long for service.

3. Peels

There are several different types of stronger peels that are offered at medical spas that are not available at regular ones, although confusion is warranted as some non-medical spas will advertise lesser types of skin peels as well. Because the chemicals used in medical spas are stronger and more effective, they are also more tightly regulated and so require that ever-important training. The last thing you want is for someone to get the formula or application of your peel wrong and for you to suffer burns, which is why you should always prioritize medical spas over other outlets that offer this sort of treatment.

About Me

Assisted Living: Dealing With Everyone's Emotions

The decision to move one of my parents into assisted living was one of the most difficult I have ever made. I had extreme feelings of guilt that led to me being at the facility with my parent practically around the clock. It took a few months before I realized that I could not let my own life fall apart from the guilt I was feeling. I also learned that my parent was fine without me constantly hovering around. Since that time, I have had several friends express similar feelings of guilt. I started this blog to help others in the same situation understand not only their feelings about assisted living, but those of their parents.
