Dealing With Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? Signs You Need Orthopedic Care

by Julia Gregory

If you're dealing with hand and wrist problems, it's time to talk to a doctor. This is especially important if you're involved in repetitive work. You could have the beginning symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Carpal tunnel syndrome can interfere with your ability to use your hands properly. However, many people ignore the symptoms or wear over-the-counter wrist braces to alleviate the discomfort. Unfortunately, that approach can make the symptoms even worse. Read the list provided below. Are you dealing with any of the situations described here? If so, it's time to get orthopedic care for your carpal tunnel syndrome.

You're Unable to Work

If hand and wrist problems keep you from going to work, you need to see a doctor right away. Carpal tunnel syndrome can make it impossible to function in your daily activities. Unfortunately, that can affect your ability to work. Proper orthopedic care can repair the damage so that you can get back to work. If you feel that your carpal tunnel syndrome is work-related, be sure to file a worker's compensation claim. Workers compensation can cover the orthopedic care you need for carpal tunnel syndrome.

You've Got a Weakness

If you've got a weakness in your hands or fingers, it's time to get orthopedic care. Carpal tunnel syndrome can weaken your hands and fingers. You may find that you don't have the strength to hold things in your hands. Or, you might not have enough strength to grasp objects between your thumb and fingers. If you're dealing with weakness in your hands or fingers, orthopedic care can help. But, you need to begin treatment as soon as possible.

You've Lost Dexterity

If you've lost dexterity in your fingers, you need treatment for your carpal tunnel syndrome. This syndrome can interfere with your ability to use your fingers. Unfortunately, a lack of finger dexterity can interfere with every aspect of your life. As soon as you notice a change in dexterity, talk to your doctor about orthopedic care.

You've Got Tingling

If you feel numbness and tingling in your hands, don't ignore the problem. Numbness and tingling are common symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Numbness and tingling happen when the median nerve gets compressed. If you're dealing with these symptoms, orthopedic care can help. Talk to your doctor right away.

Don't take chances with your hands. If you're dealing with any of the symptoms described here, reach out to orthopedic services.

About Me

Assisted Living: Dealing With Everyone's Emotions

The decision to move one of my parents into assisted living was one of the most difficult I have ever made. I had extreme feelings of guilt that led to me being at the facility with my parent practically around the clock. It took a few months before I realized that I could not let my own life fall apart from the guilt I was feeling. I also learned that my parent was fine without me constantly hovering around. Since that time, I have had several friends express similar feelings of guilt. I started this blog to help others in the same situation understand not only their feelings about assisted living, but those of their parents.
